La Feria’s 19th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade and Winter Festival

AN EMOJI CHRISTMAS Scheduled for this Saturday, December 9th

This Saturday, December 9, 2017 the city of La Feria will host its 19th Annual Lighted Christmas Parade followed immediately by the annual Winter Festival.

The parade will once again form on Central Avenue and travel north on Main Street to it’s final destination at the La Feria High School parking lot.

This year’s parade them is “An Emoji Christmas”.

The floats registered with the city will be competing for cash prizes in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places as well as trophies awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place walkers and floats.

The parade lineup traditionally begins promptly at 5:00 p.m. with the parade beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The judging stage will again be stationed at the intersection of Main and Industrial Way. The Parade judges will feature cast members from the 30th Anniversary production of “Vacaciones de Terror” by Bellcan Productions & Films. The Parade MC this year will feature a local RGV Radio Personality.

Immediately following the parade, friends and family are invited to join the La Feria community at the Winter Festival which will once again be held at the Lions Stadium west parking lot located at 901 S. Canal Street.

There will be food vendors, carnival rides, games and music guaranteeing a night of Holiday fun for the whole family!

The La Feria Events Committee and the City of La Feria sponsor many contests at this time of the year, including the Business Window Decorating Contest, the Home & Yard Decorating Contest and the Winter Visitor Park Decorating Contest as well as a contest for the best large painted Christmas cards created by the students of La Feria School District which are usually on display at the City of La Feria Municipal Complex along Business 83.

Winners for all these contests will be announced at this year’s Winter Festival.

The La Feria Police Department will also be on hand to take toy donations for their annual toy drive.

Santa will be at the festival, ready to take photos with everyone, as well.

The Winter Festival is scheduled to last from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
