La Feria’s Bailey H Dunlap Memorial Library is launching an ambitious book-signing series to help promote literacy for our citizens. The program is called “Meet the Author” and features monthly book-signing events with the writers present at the library. This gives people the opportunity to have their personal copy of the book signed by the author themselves. It will be quite a nice program.

The first author in the series was Katelynn Renteria, who signed many copies of her award-winning book, “The Other Side of the Law” for local readers who wanted to meet this young lady author and have her sign their book. The author was gracious and took time to talk with admirers after signing.

Katelynn Renteria is a native of the Rio Grande Valley, and at the age of 15 is already a published author in great demand and an Award winner of the 2017 Silver Literacy Classics Award.

This charming young author says she has been in love with writing all her life. She always knew she wanted to write and author books as a career choice.. She attends Early College High School in Harlingen, and is already well on her way to a successful career in her chosen profession. She has the full support of her proud parents and family.

Now about her first book: It is a thriller: It traces the adventures of a young untypical high school sophomore named Kay Verdant. Kay attends Henderson High School, a school for spies, and together with her older brother Roy and best friend Scarlet, she carries out her dangerous mission flawlessly. Her adventures will bring into her life an evil tycoon, a mysterious ally and a gnarly gaggle of off-beat characters. The author has chosen quite an ambitious story for a first book. You’ll need to buy the book to find out how it all unfolds.

Katelynn has a website with her bio and more information.

The monthly “Meet the Author” series is off and running according to Tabitha M Outlaw, City of La Feria Administrative Assistant and Special Events Coordinator. For more information about coming events you can call her at 956 797 2261.
