LA FERIA – A much anticipated game between Hidalgo and La Feria was quite the showing.
On October 6, The La Feria Lionettes defeated the Lady Pirates in a five-set game 25-14, 22-25, 2-25, 25-12, and 15-12.
The win gives the Lionettes the lead in the league standings with a 9-1 record with Hidalgo falling behind them (8-2)
On the following Tuesday, the Lionettes swept the Zapata Lady Hawks 25-8, 27-25, and 25-19.
The Lionettes control their own destiny with three games remaining in district, those being Raymondville, La Grulla, and Rio Hondo.
After losing in a tightly contested game in the second round of the playoffs last season, the Lionettes are trying to make more history for their program as well as grab a third straight district championship.
