George Strait Closes Out Houston Rodeo
- Updated: March 29, 2019
by Tony Vindell/LFN
George Strait, the legendary country music star, closed out the Houston Rodeo with a concert on Sunday, March 17.
Performing before a record crowd of more than 80,000 people, the 66 years old Strait played some of his best known tunes like Amarillo by Morning, The Chair and All My Ex’s Live in Texas.
He also played new tunes from his new studio album, including Every Little Honky Tonk Bar.
Strait was pretty much the same throughout his performance, hardly moving and keeping the tone of his voice pretty much even.
Although the Poteet man had announced he was stopping touring in 2017, Strait keeps performing in Las Vegas and tours occasionally.
Guest musicians Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen played for about an hour.
Their music was a little more than just country and had a backup singer that sounded like Aretha Franklin.
A fan described Lovett and Keen music as country swing.
