Lion Golf at Los Fresnos Invitational
- Updated: October 24, 2014
The Lion golf team participated in the Los Fresnos Invitational this past weekend which was held at South Padre Island golf course. The team competed against 5A and 6A schools. For many of the kids who participated this was their first experience playing varsity golf. Seven out of the nine participants had never played high school golf before. This was a good learning experience for the new players. They got to see what it was like to go out and compete against other schools. Three of the students freshmen, were part of last year’s Jr. High golf team but had never played a full 18 holes. In Jr. High they only play 9 holes. Coach Briones was pleased with the outcome “ I just wanted these new kids to get the experience of playing in a varsity tournament, we have a young team and they need all the experience they can get.” The Lions will next be playing in the Weslaco Boys tournament which will be held at Tierra Santa Golf Club in Weslaco on Monday October 20th.
