Alarm Leads Authorities to Burgeoning Blaze
- Updated: May 22, 2015
A dispatch to an on-duty La Feria officer led him to the house on the corner of West Street and Jessamine Avenue late Thursday night, early on Friday morning, May 8, 2015.
After a cursory glance through the windows of the home, the officer noticed there was smoke and a growing fire inside.
“He immediately called dispatch to send the fire department,” said La Feria Police Chief Donato Garcia.
By 1 a.m. firefighters from La Feria and Mercedes were working diligently to get the blaze under control.
The house, which was currently up for sale, provided seasonal housing to winter Texans according to neighbors.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
