Operation Bishop Raids Local Gaming Parlor for Third Time

As reported by KRGV-TV on June 30, 2015, Lucky Big Bees Gaming Parlor off of Expressway 83 in La Feria, investigators seized about 30 machines when raided by Cameron County’s Operation Bishop. The machines confiscated were not eight liners, however. Instead the machines seized were computers loaded with gambling software.
A cheaper alternative to eight liners, unknown individuals will front the money for these parlors and have a third-party person set up the shops. Operation Bishop representatives noted that there has been an increase in these sorts of businesses because of the ease of operation since the business can be controlled from a hidden central server on the premises and monitored via Internet from anywhere.
Previously raided twice, investigators were awaiting a warrant to seize the money in the cash registers of Lucky Big Bees at the time of the bust.
Cameron County, state and federal law enforcement agencies began a shutdown of all eight-liner establishments in May 2013 upon the culmination of an 18-month criminal investigation known as Operation Bishop.
Starr County has teamed up with Cameron County in a continued effort to close down illegal gaming establishments in the area.
