LFISD Board of Trustees Approves One-to-One Initiative

School districts across the country are expanding their use of educational technology through the adoption of one-to-one computing initiatives. La Feria ISD Board of Trustees approved at the regular scheduled Board Meeting held on July 13 the purchase of 288 Dell laptops for 9th grade students as a new initiative for La Feria High School for the 2015-2016 school year. The goal is that in four years all students at the high school will have a laptop computer to complete a one-to-one initiative for high school students. The laptops will be outfitted with Windows 8.1 and Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. The laptops will also have all the Google Apps for Education installed for student use. The technology will also be equipped with wireless access to the internet while on La Feria campuses and be able to connect to Wi-Fi where available.
A new generation of students expects a learning environment that integrates today’s digital tools, accommodates a mobile lifestyle, adapts to individual learning styles, and encourages collaboration and teamwork. The La Feria School Board, along with the Administration, is pleased to announce an exciting new educational opportunity for students in 9th Grade that will strive to meet these expectations and prepare students for the 21st Century.
The District is also committed to ensuring that students in the elementary, junior high, and high school have connectivity via the internet through “Bring Your Own Device” initiative as well as computers in the classrooms.
