Lion Golf Sending Ten to Regional Tournament
- Updated: April 15, 2016
The Lion golf team participated in the 32-4A district golf tournament Friday, April 1st in Pharr.
Over all it was a strong showing for the team, they will be advancing to the Regional tournament in Corpus next week. Isabel Prado led the team claiming her individual district championship. The boys team ended in a tie with Port Isabel and had to have a tie breaker match between the two teams with the losing team staying home and the winning team advancing to the Regional tournament. It all came down to one hole, the Lions had good drives to start the hole and put the pressure on the Tarpons.
In the end the boys team came together and put together a great finish to advance to the Regional tournament and leave the Tarpons to head back home without anyone on their team advancing. On the girls side, Isabel led through out the day and claimed her second title in three years. The rest of the girls team played strong and came up short against Zapata.
The team placed second as a group and advanced to the Regional tournament. The golf team has had and continues its tradition of sending representatives to the Regional tournament, this will mark the sixth year in a row under Head Coach David Briones, La Feria represents the district in Corpus at the Regional tournament.
