Seen In La Feria – Trail Riders
- Updated: March 18, 2013
A colorful caravan of the Rio Grande Valley Trail Riders and their mounted entourage paraded through downtown La Feria last Saturday on their way to the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show in Mercedes. It’s an annual event.
The ambitious 5-day trek from Port Mansfield by this Donna based organization has become a well supported event associated with each year’s RGV Livestock Show. The riders and their families mix serious riding and fun along the way with overnight stops. The unexpected sight of a covered chuck wagon followed by a procession of mounted riders, stops traffic. People cheer and take pictures – The scene is like something out of our Texas past. Long live the Trail Riders!
