La Feria Assembly Hall to Host 10 Summer Conventions
- Updated: June 14, 2013
Program to be Presented in English and Spanish
LA FERIA – Thousands of delegates from many parts of South Texas will be coming to La Feria this summer to enjoy 10 three-dayBible-based conventions. The 2013 series begins in June and ends in August. It will serve the needs of over 175 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses south of San Antonio.
Convention officials said members of their faith, as well as non-Witnesses, will benefit from the positive message and practical suggestions that will be highlighted at the “God’s Word is Truth” District Conventions. The conventions are 3-days long beginning Friday and ending Sunday. The program begins with a musical presentation each day at 9:30, then, ends each day at 4:30 p.m.
A highlight of Saturday’s program will be the public ordination ceremony for new ministers. The speaker for the occasion will commend the candidates for dedicating their lives to almighty God and entering the public ministry. The impressive ceremony includes baptism in the baptismal font in the assembly hall, following the example of Jesus Christ.
The La Feria conventions will be part of a series of conventions to be held in over 103 cities throughout the United States. Jehovah’s Witnesses base all their beliefs on God’s infallible, inspired Word, the Bible. Through lively discourses, dramatic Bible readings, demonstrations, and a play with live actors, program parts will show how this inspired book is the only source of true guidance. The bible gives unsurpassed practical advice on marriage, family life, human relations, and many other practical subjects.
In order to serve the bilingual population of South Texas, there are to be eight conventions entirely in Spanish; two will be entirely in English.
The Spanish conventions are: June 7-9, June 14-16, June 21-23, June 28-30. July 19-21, July 26-28, August 2-4, and August 9-11. The two English language conventions will be held on July 5-7 and July 12-14 at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1701 South Parker Road in La Feria.
