Two New Officers Sworn In to LFPD
- Updated: July 30, 2013
In a short ceremony preceding a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 23rd the La Feria Police Department gained two new officers.
La Feria Police Chief Donato Garcia swore in new officers Jesus Rodriguez and Frank Sanchez, both recent graduates of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Police Academy’s Mission campus. Afterward, Chief Garcia asked each officer’s parents to come to the front and pin their new badges on them. Punch and cake was provided by Chief Garcia’s daughters.
Officer Jesus Rodriguez is originally from Pharr, Texas and a graduate of PSJA school district.
Officer Frank Sanchez is originally from Alamo, Texas and graduated from Donna High School. Officer Sanchez attended the Mission Police Academy from October 2012 to May 2013 in order to get his peace officer license.
Both officers graduated from the academy with high averages and scored well on their final exams. Police Academy cadets must submit to fingerprinting and a background check before being eligible to attend the academy.
“They are both outstanding individuals and I’m certain that they will do an outstanding job for the citizens and city of La Feria,” said Chief Garcia.
