Annual Jr. Lifeguard Competition Sat. Aug. 3

Sponsor Donations Needed
Guard Start is a program for youth ages 11 to 15. This class is a jump-start for the younger members of our community. This course prepares a foundation of aquatic leadership, fitness and swimming skills and positive attitudes. Guard Start is a transition from the Learn 2 Swim Program to the Lifeguard Training Course, according to Jessette Alemán, La Feria Aquatic Center Director.
The La Feria Guard Start includes teens from La Feria, Mercedes, Weslaco, Santa Rosa, Harlingen and other surrounding communities.
These participants will be working hard during the next four weeks learning swimming skills and rescue skills. We will put their skills to a challenge during the Annual Jr. Lifeguard Competition. The La Feria Aquatic Center will host the competition on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged.
Sponsors are needed for the event and monetary or promotional items from businesses are being accepted at La Feria city offices.
