School Board Welcomes New Superintendent

La Feria ISD Trustees held a special meeting Thursday, July 25 to finalize contract negotiations and welcome new Superintendent Rey Villarreal to the district. Villarreal and his wife, Isabel were in attendance at the meeting.
Board President Juan Briones welcomed Villarreal to the community and added , “Congratulations, you start tomorrow!” Briones presented him with a cap and shirt with the La Feria logo.
The board agreed on a salary of $120,000 plus benefits for Villarreal who comes to La Feria from a position in Laredo. The family has already found a home in the community.
“I am thrilled to be here, it is such an honor and I am so humbled. I will do my best everyday and look forward to working with the students, staff and the community,” commented Villarreal.
