The La Feria Lions improve to 4 – 1 with a 42 – 0 win over the Santa Maria Cougars at Lion Stadium last Friday night. Both sides of the ball played well for the Lions. The Lion offense has been on fire lately scoring 42 points in their last two games.

Quarterback Eric Cuervo has been getting the ball to multiple receivers and the running game is starting to wear out most defenses. This balanced attack of run and pass has allowed the Lions to become one of the most dynamic offenses in the valley.

The defense has also played a key role throughout the season. They are among the best in the valley as far as total yards allowed and forced turnovers. Both the offense and defense will have to be at their best when the Raymondville Bearkats came to town last Friday night. It will showcase two of the valley’s best high powered offenses and defenses that like to play physical. It was also Homecoming for the Lions which makes the game more appealing.

The Lions are planning to bring their “A” game out versus the Bearkats and give all of their loyal fans a big homecoming game win. Last Thursday night the Lions had a Community Pep Rally for the upcoming game in the new gym. Hundreds of fans came out to support all La Feria athletes, both boys and girls from the various sports. The burning of the LF followed the pep rally. It was a night to celebrate our past and present athletes and we would like to thank all the people involved in helping put this all together for these young men and women. It was a night to remember, especially for the seniors.
