Varsity Golf Girls Compete in Mission Tournament
- Updated: October 25, 2013
The Lionette Varsity girls competed in its second tournament of the season. Last week Isabel Prado led the way with a 90 at Fort Brown golf course in Brownsville. Another Lionette took the lead this week at Shary Municipal golf course. Celica Quintana shot a 89 to lead the Lionette team. The team is playing its fall schedule right now competing in 5A tournaments. The boys team will be starting right after football season as many of the boys are playing football at this time. The girl’s team will be working harder this year to accomplish its goal of a District Championship. They came in a close second last year losing to Hidalgo. “We had no seniors in last year’s group, so all the girls come back with one goal, to win a District Championship” says Head Coach David Briones. Celica Quintana has an extra goal this year. Last year she narrowly missed going to the State Tournament. She has been working hard since then and is focused on making it to State. Next week the team travels to Harlingen to participate in the Harlingen Invitational.
