A Memorable Performance by the Valley Symphony Orchestra

Maestro Peter Dabrowski Scores Another Triumph

Valley music lovers who had the good fortune to be in the audience at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance when Maestro Peter Dabrowski conducted the Valley Symphony Orchestra’s second spectacular performance of the 2013-2014 season experienced a rewarding and exhilarating evening.

In Concert II, Maestro Dabrowski indulged his passion for artistic excellence by featuring the romantic masterpieces of five renowned masters of classical music. He assembled great works by famed composers, such as Wagner, Rachmaninov, Berlioz, Tchaikovsky, and Liszt for the evening’s fare. With that lineup, from the moment Doctor Dabrowski lifted his baton and gave the downbeat for the music to flow, everyone knew it was going to be an extraordinary evening.

The highlight of the evening was the sterling performance by guest piano virtuoso Yu Chi Tai, who tenderly, yet powerfully, interpreted the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Op. 43 by Rachmaninov. The audience, and members of the orchestra, responded with a storm of applause and shouts of “bravo” as they rose to their feet to express their appreciation for the superb artistry of this delightful performer. The capacity audience was rewarded with an unscheduled encore selection by the artist. It was a great night for Yu Chi Tai and the symphony.

The Symphony’s Marketing Director, Vivian Vargas, said later that the concerts of the Valley Symphony and the Chorale are a “perfect example of the cultural diversity along with the musical pleasure and education we can deliver to music lovers in the Valley.”

She added: “We are so fortunate to have such a world class orchestra to enjoy right here in the Rio Grande Valley. Vargas then sketched out the performances for the rest of the season
