Lions Exterminate Red Ants 52 -13
- Updated: November 8, 2013
The La Feria Lions got back on track with a big victory against district nemesis Progreso last Friday night at Lion Stadium. The win keeps the Lions in contention for the playoff race with only two weeks left in the season. They will have an open week and then finish the season by traveling to Hidalgo to face the Pirates on Friday, November 1. After a tough loss against district rival Port Isabel the Lions bounced back and played one of their most complete games of the seasons versus upstart Progreso. A fumble recovery on a Lion punt return early in the game lead to the games first score as the Red ants lead 7 – 0. The early mistake could have shaken the lions but instead they responded by playing some of their best football. The lion offense exploded by scoring 7 touchdowns and the defense held the red ants to a mere 169 total yards for the game while forcing 5 turnovers. Overall, it was a great win for the lions and they hope to continue their winning ways as they travel to Hidalgo in the upcoming week. Good luck to the boys and Go Lions!
