The Lionette Golf Team Places 3rd at Donna Tournament
- Updated: November 8, 2013
The Lionette golf team participated in the Donna golf tournament this past Monday. For half of the Lionette team it was their first time playing in a tournament. Six teams participated in the tournament ranging from 4A to 5A. La Feria was the only 3A team playing. For seven of the girls participating it was their first introduction to competative golf. “ I wanted these girls to have the experience of playing competative golf, until now they had only spent time on the driving range.” Coach Briones said. Alex Sanchez represented the boys team. After losing a majority of the boys district champion team last year, the Lions are looking to rebuild their boys team. Alex Sanchez shot a 95 to place in the top ten individually. Many of the boys that will participate in golf will do so right after football season. The Lions will look to compete and defend their district title this year. The team will finish up the fall season on November 17th at Weslaco and November 23rd in Brownsville. After the Christmas holidays the team will resume and start their Spring schedule.
