Open Letter to the Voters from Mayor Pro-Tem Lori Weaver

La Feria Voters To Pick New Mayor Jan. 25
Open Letter from Mayor Pro-Tem Lori Weaver for your consideration for Mayor
I am running for the position of Mayor for the City of La Feria and I am seeking your help to get elected to this most respectful position in La Feria .
Thank you for electing me as your City Commissioner since 2006 and the confidence you have bestowed on me. I have valued your support and trust you have placed in me and have done my duties as the City Commissioner for the betterment of La Feria and with you in mind. My fellow commissioners have elected me as Mayor Pro-Tem to fill-in for the Mayor in his absence and thank them for the confidence they have placed in my leadership. In that capacity, I have represented the City at the local, state, and national level.
I would like to offer the proven experience in leading the city to the next level and not miss any beat and opportunities for the city during the coming years. It is truly a privilege and honor to serve my community as your City Commissioner, Mayor Pro-Tem and with your help as the new Mayor of La Feria. From what you can see around the community, our city has done well over the past seven years and several major projects are underway. In order to see the fruition of the projects, we need stability and quality leadership for the community and I am willing to offer the leadership to make things happen.
I stand for fiscal responsibility, improving opportunities for our children and our community with no personal or hidden agendas in city government. I am delighted to report to you that I have kept my promise and need your vote and support to continue the same and see to it that our La Feria and residents prosper. The projects completed are many to mention, but some of the projects that the current commission and I have been working on are; completion of Tiny Town Park, street improvements, wastewater improvements, hook-ups, and the recently approved skate board park for our kids. We are currently working on bringing in new businesses, down payment assistance, affordable housing, and educational facilities financed through grants and Tax Increment Financing program that will generate increased tax revenues and improved services for our community.
One of the current projects that I’m most proud of is the initiative to promote the City of La Feria to State and Federal officials as a possible site for the VA Medical Campus by offering them the land to build such a facility. Our veterans deserve such a facility and what better place than our central Valley location.
My commitment to you, the citizens of La Feria, is that I will fulfill my duties as new Mayor on a full time basis as I have done since 2006 without any self-interest. My belief is that La Feria will grow and prosper under strong, positive leadership and with God’s Blessings.
May God Bless You, La Feria and Our Country.
Sincerely, Lori Weaver
