Days of Dreary, Misty Weather Have Slowed Mayoral Campaign
- Updated: January 24, 2014
Voters to Elect Current Mayor Pro-Tem or Commissioner for Mayor of La Feria
The campaign for a new mayor for La Feria has started slowly with the holidays and nasty weather, but it is sure to heat up before the Special Election date set for Saturday, January 25, 2014. Early voting begins this Wednesday and continues weekdays until January 21.
With current Mayor Steve Brewer stepping down to run for County Commissioner , Mayor Pro-Tem Lori Weaver and Commissioner Victor Gonzalez, Jr. both decided to run for the office.
“My team is looking forward to some nicer weather as we plan to visit with residents of La Feria about my campaign for Mayor of La Feria”, commented Weaver.
Gonzalez said, “The weather has slowed the campaign some, but we will be gearing up this week to talk to more voters about why I would like to be mayor of La Feria”.
Weaver has served the past six years as Mayor Pro-Tem of La Feria, serving at commission meetings and functions when the mayor was unavailable.
Gonzalez has served on the commission since 2000.
