La Feria PD “Operation Smile” Covered the Community with Toys
- Updated: January 24, 2014
La Feria Police Chief Donato Garcia was thrilled at the huge participation by the community in their “Operation Smile” project.
Operation Smile is an annual event that collects unwrapped new toys for children during the holidays and then distributes them around the community on Christmas Eve. The local police officers and firemen drive around La Feria residential streets putting the gifts into each hand of a smiling child.
“I was so happy that so many people donated this year, it was our best year ever! It is so rewarding to see all the smiles on the children’s faces. We want to thank all the sponsors and those who contributed to the cause,” said Chief Garcia.
This year’s sponsors included: Kenwood Park, Yellow Rose Park, VIP Park, La Feria RV Park, Sun Loan, Texas Rose Bar, La Feria News, La Feria Fire Dept. , Rio Farm Market, J.C. Wing, Co., Dollar General, El Centro, Dairy Queen, Citrus Village, Mr. and Mrs. Reed, Ladies of La Feria First Baptist Church, Omar Tire Shop, Steve and Kathy Wolf, American Eagle Towing, Almaraz Wrecker Service, Charlie Wrecker Service, Coronado Wrecker Service, Mid Valley Agriculture, Sister Creations, and All Valley Wide Towing #3.
