Four LFISD School Board slots open, Briones unopposed

Four slots have become available for LFISD School Board trustee positions – Places 4, 5, 6, and 7. La Feria will be having a trustee election on November 4, 2014. The first day to file for the La Feria ISD Trustee election was on July 19, 2014. The deadline to file was on August 18, 2014.
The last day to register to vote or make a change of address to be effective for voting eligibility will be on October 6th.
Early voting will be at the Old Sam Houston Elementary Campus located on 474 Villarreal St in La Feria beginning on October 20th.
Jose Juan Medeles and Lisa Ayala Montalvo will be running for the position Place 4 Incumbent Pancho Cobarrubias left open when he stepped down. Place 5 Incumbent Javier Loredo will be running for re-election challenged by Robert “Venado” Leal. Place 6 Incumbent David “Baz” Bazaldua will be running for re-election as well, challenged on the ballot by Emma “Katie” Johnson. Place 7 Incumbent Juan “Johnny” Briones will be running for re-election with no challengers at the time of this writing.
