- Updated: October 3, 2014
La Feria voters will be electing four members to the local school board at the same time they are selecting federal and state leaders in the upcoming General Election scheduled on Tuesday, November 4. Early voting begins Monday, October 20 at the old Sam Houston Elementary Campus located 474 Villarreal Street in La Feria.
Full-time student and mother Lisa Ayala Montalvo and Database Administrator Jose Medeles are running against each other for La Feria Trustee Place 4. One of these candidates will be filling the position held by longtime trustee Pancho Cobarrubias who did not file for re-election to the board.
Businessman and incumbent board member Javier Loredo is being challenged for his seat on the school board by Robert “Venado” Leal, who lists his occupation as farmer. One of these two men will be elected to Place 5 on the La Feria School Board.
Place 6 is now held by David “Baz” Bazaldua, Jr. with Katie Johnson filing as his opponent. Johnson is currently an Executive Administrative Assistant.
School Board President Juan “Johnny” Briones is running unopposed for his Place 7 position.
The La Feria News hopes to offer a photo and “Letter from the Candidate” in a late October edition to our readers so they can be informed. Candidates can contact the La Feria News office at 797-9920 or email their information to laferianews@aolcom. Deadline is now set for October 15.
