Lionette Varsity #2 Team places at PSJA Tournament
- Updated: December 1, 2014
The Lionette Varsity #2 team placed 3rd at the PSJA tournament held at Tierra del Sol in Pharr Tx. It was a cold and windy start to the tournament with temperatures in the mid 40’s on Monday. The weather seemed to have little effect on the team. Many of the players enjoy playing in the colder weather and have had some of their best scores when the weather is colder. The girls played through the windy conditions and adjusted to the wind to have some of their best scores of the year. The team competed against 5A and 6A teams out there and didn’t let the competition against the bigger schools bother them. For four of these girls this is their first year playing golf, this is a young team and we look forward to seeing them play for several more years. This week the Varsity #1 team travels to River Bend Golf Course in Brownsville. The Varsity #1 team is currently ranked #10 in the Texas High School Scoreboard State Rankings. Celica Quintana and Isabel Prado lead the team with state individual rankings #30 and #31. The Varsity #2 team will compete in Weslaco on December 8th before the holidays and both teams will be back in mid January to start the Spring season. Now with football season over some of the boys that were on the team last year will be joining back with the team to start their season.
