A Message from The Office of the City Manager
- Updated: March 20, 2015
The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) awarded an additional $1,000,000 towards the street reconstruction and drainage improvements. TDEM originally funded two grants totaling $2,296,350.75. The City matched these funds with funding from the General Land Office. The improvement projects undertaken through this grant include the following:
- Reconstruction of Rabb Road form Expressway 83 to Business Highway 83
- Drainage improvements from the reconstructed portion of Rabb Road on the north to Arroyo Colorado to the south
- Construction of an 8 foot x 7 foot concrete tunnel underneath the floodway to the east side of Orange Grove Road
- Purchase and installation of two heavy volume pumps and construction of a building to house the pumps
- Modification of portions of Wilson Irrigation Canal and Evans Irrigation Canal located on the southeast section of the City, by installing overhead pipelines so as to allow drainage water to flow freely underneath the pipelines.
These improvements will provide improved drainage to the east and west side of the city. All these improvements are anticipated to be completed in the next 60 days.
These series of messages are intended to provide more information to the public about the City, including ongoing or planned projects.
