- Updated: March 13, 2015
Returns to Crown the Royal Couple
La Feria Mayor Victor Gonzalez presided at the crowning of the new king and queen of the Mi Destino Adult Day Care Center last week in La Feria. It was his second time to do the honors after being elected mayor of the city last year.
“It was a great honor for me to confer royal status on the chosen couple,” he said. ‘We congratulate the king and queen and wish them much happiness during their reign.
During the ceremony, Eleazar Perez was recognized as the chosen King and Hilaria Sauceda was crowned queen for 2015 by the 70 clients of the adult day care center. The royal couple was joined by Prince Loy Dominguez and Princess Maria Chavez who shared in the coronation ceremony. All the members of the royal court are natives of La Feria.
Diana Rocha, owner and facility director, said the much-anticipated coronation is always the social event of the year for her clients and their families. “This is our eighth year to choose a King and Queen,” she said, adding, “Eleazar and Hilaria will appear at various functions scheduled during the year–we are happy for them.”
Mayor Gonzalez thanked Diana Rocha for again inviting him to crown the new King and Queen. He added: “The City of La Feria is proud to have such merchants that participate in annual events such as this and the “Fiesta La Feria” on the 27th and 28th of February. It is all for the good of the community.”
