La Feria Lions Run Strong at RGV Meet of Champions

The La Feria Lions track team had a fantastic showing on day one of the competition.
The top four finishers in each event advanced to the finals Saturday.
Alfonso Vela placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash, Toby Davis won the 200 meter dash, Vincent Vento placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash, Mohammed Mughrabi 3rd, and Diego Trevino 4th. Carlos Rodriguez won the 800 meter run, Reyes Rodriguez placed 3rd, and Gabriel Prado placed 4th. Isaac Guzman placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run. Reyes Rodriguez won the 1600 meter run and Isaac Guzman placed 4th. The Relay teams also had a fine showing. The 400 meter relay placed 2nd with Isaac Galpin, Julian Trevino, Armando Torres, and Brandon Perez. The 800 meter relay placed 1st with Brandon Perez, Tobias Davis, Alfonso Vela, and Armando Torres.
The 1600 meter relay also placed 1st with Vincent Vento, Carlos Rodriguez, Brandon Perez and Armando Torres. The field event athlete placed in the following manner. Julian Trevino 2nd in the long jump, Isaiah Martinez 2nd in the triple jump, Alan Rubio 3rd in the pole vault, Marcus Torres 2nd in the high jump and Isaac Galpin 3rd.The team totaled 169 points.
The team faced some tough competition in the finals on Saturday. However Julian Trevino placed 4th in the long jump. Isaiah Martinez placed 5th in the triple jump. Carlos Rodriguez won the 800 meter run and the 1600 meter relay placed 3rd with Joseph Lunn, Carlos Rodriguez, Brandon Perez, and Armando Torres.
