La Feria Lions Win District Track Meet

The La Feria Lions had a great first day at the 32-AAAA track meet held at Lion’s Stadium April 14th and 16th. They started with Isaiah Martinez winning the triple jump and Julian Trevino winning the long jump .A.J.Torres came home with the silver in the long jump.
Marcus Torres and Isaac Galpin went one and two in the high jump .Trey Azua placed 3rd in the pole vault and Billy Guerra placed 4th.Isaac Guzman advanced to the area meet with a 2nd place finish in the 3200 meter run. Gonzalo Algeria placed 5th in the shot put.
The Lions got off to a great start on Day two of the meet. They started with a win in the 4oo meter relay. Relay members are Julian Trevino, Brandon Perez, A.J. Torres and Isaac Galpin. The lions swept the next event the 800 meter run. Carlos Rodriguez won gold followed by Reyes Rodriguez 2nd and Joseph Lunn 3rd. Mohammed Mughrabi placed 5th in the 110 meter hurdles. Alfonso Vela won silver in the 100 meter dashand Isaac Galpin placed 5th. The 800 meter relay came in 1st place. The relay members are Alfonso Vela, Tobias Davis, Brandon Perez and A.J.Torres. The team did well in the 400 meter dash Carlos Rodriguez placed 1st and Vincent Vento 3rd and Mohammed Mughrabi placed 5th. Joseph Lunn placed 2nd and Marcus Nunez placed 5th in the 300 meter hurdles. Alfonso Vela won the 200 meter dash and Tobias Davis finished 3rd. Reyes Rodriguez placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run and Gabriel Prado placed 3rd.
The Lions capped off the meet by winning the 1600 meter relay. The relay members are Joseph Lunn, Carlos Rodriguez, Brandon Perez, and A.J.Torres. The Lions also won the Varsity division with 222.5 points .Rio Hondo placed 2nd with 95 points. The Lions also won the Junior Varsity division. They will next compete at the Area track meet April 23rd in Kingsville Texas.
