La Feria Great Strides Scheduled for October
- Updated: July 24, 2015
Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s largest national fundraising event. Each year, more than 125,000 people participate in hundreds of walks across the country to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research and drug development.
Great Strides continues to gain momentum, as do their research efforts and the progress they’ve made in the search for a cure.
The CF Foundation has raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to support the development of new CF drugs and therapies. But the lives of people with this disease are still cut far too short. Great Strides needs the public’s continued support to fulfill their mission of finding a cure and improving the quality of life of those with the disease.
Walks are held at nearly 600 locations nationwide and are open to the public. Great Strides provides a fantastic opportunity for family, friends, students, co-workers and colleagues to come together in support of a worthy cause.
This year La Feria’s own Great Strides event is scheduled for Saturday, October 24th and will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Sports Complex located at 904 Pancho Maples Drive in La Feria.
Check-in time will be 6:30 a.m. and the start time for the run is 7:45 a.m. while the start time for the walk is 8:00 a.m. There is a $15 participation fee and T-shirts will be on sale at the event for $25.
This is a cashless event, so organizers are asking the public to please convert all money into checks prior to the event for increased security and safety.
