CVS Pharmacy Grand Opening Huge Success
The Grand Opening of the CVS Pharmacy last Saturday was another success story for the City of La Feria. The much anticipated event marks the progress our city is experiencing according to Mayor Victor Gonzalez, Jr., who officiated at the ceremony.
The official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at 10:00 a.m. at the entrance to the beautiful, new building. The event attracted the attention of many local dignitaries, city officials, and CVS corporate officers who joined the crowd in celebrating this latest addition to the downtown La Feria business district.
His honor mayor Victor Gonzalez, Jr., said in his opening remarks, “We are a growing and progressive community. This new business is the latest evidence. We welcome this new CVS Pharmacy on Main Street to our city.” The Mayor then recognized several special guests in the audience.
Javier R. Garza, CVS Health Pharmacy Supervisor said, “We are extremely glad to see so many today for the event,” adding, “We are here to help people; that is our business.”
In his remarks, Mr. Garza mentioned pharmacist Christine Philip. “Christine is a La Feria native we hired because she grew up here and knows the community,“ he said. “She is now a key member of the CVS Pharmaceutical staff.” Christine responded with: “I grew up and went to school in La Feria. It is nice to be back and be able to take care of the people’s pharmacy needs.”
Sunny Philip, La Feria City Manager, said the city welcomes this expanded and relocated new, downtown pharmacy and the additional services it will be able to offer the citizens.
Tammy Atencio is the CVS Corporate District Administration Supervisor, and was present for the Grand Opening. She expressed the pleasure of the corporate headquarters with the cooperation the company had received from the city administration and citizens during the construction phase.
Supervisor Atencio schedules some 70 Registered Pharmacists in the 25 stores in her district. She said, “This new store in La Feria was necessary because the former store simply could not support the demand for space needed for our full-services pharmacies.”
The ceremony ended with the official ribbon-cutting and remarks by the Mayor. Then, everybody was invited inside for tours and refreshments. Way to Go CVS Pharmacy!
