Valley Symphony Orchestra to Perform in New Auditorium
- Updated: September 18, 2015
“Everyone will have a Front Row Seat”
When Music Director Dr. Peter Dabrowski lifts his baton to begin another fabulous concert series for music-lovers of the Rio Grande Valley, it will be the realization of a dream–both for the conductor and the members of the orchestra.. . Dabrowski is celebrating his fourteenth year as Music Director and orchestra Conductor. He has an unparalleled commitment to support outstanding musical performances and education in the Rio Grande Valley.
As the orchestra moves into its new home at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex during the 2015-2016 symphony season, it will be tracing a remarkable history of musical excellence and professionalism Dr. Dabrowski is the seventh conductor in the symphony’s sixty-three year history. And, what a way for the conductor and the musicians to relish this acoustically-correct, beautiful new home than with this season full of great music and delightful surprises.
In his customary, exuberant style, Dabrowski promises his audiences “an absolutely perfect and very satisfactory sound..” He said our music lovers will have a chance to hear the sounds of the instruments, especially the strings, like they should be heard. The sound professionals who built the state-of-the-art sound system, designed the acoustic banks to be controlled electronically. And, the seating arrangements were designed so that “No matter where you sit in the auditorium, you will be able to see clearly. In a word,” he mused, ‘Everyone will have a front-row seat.’”
The Valley Symphony celebrates the “New World at the New Hall” on Thursday, September 24, 2015 beginning at 8:00.p.m.
UTRGV President, Dr Guy Bailey, has been called on again to give a dramatic rendering of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address with full orchestral background. The debut of the new facilities will be completed with composer Dvorak’s classical masterpiece: Symphony No. 9 E Minor, op 95, “From the New World.”
Dabrowski asked our readers to ‘Save the Date’ for the 2016 Annual SYMPHONY GALA “Swing With Us.” It is Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the McAllen Convention Center Ballroom.. This, not to be missed, social event of the year, is honoring Kirk and Jeri Clark, long time patrons of the arts in the Rio Grande Valley.
The maestro reminds concert-goers that there are great performances scheduled for the Valley Symphony Chorale under the baton of Dr. David Means, Chorale Conductor. Geoffrey Wong will lead the 2015 Chamber Concerts at the Chase Neuhaus Bank Tower in McAllen.
