Congratulations to the 2016-2017 RGV LEAD Student Ambassadors. These students just finished competing against 34 other teams Valley wide for this very prominent position. Students who become Student Ambassadors gain leadership experience at a regional level as opposed to a campus level. These students get to network with other student ambassadors from other school districts and have the opportunity to meet many educational leaders from across the Rio Grande Valley.

These students prepared a one page essay on how their team would serve as RGV Lead Ambassadors and how as a team they can impact the Rio Grande Valley. As a team, they then picked a topic that they would do a 5 minute presentation to other students vying for the same title. One team presented on how to balance school work with extracurricular activities and the other team presented on how to work with a diverse group of students in a club and still succeed. Although the audience consisted of other teams from different school districts, the judges were made up of outgoing seniors. They rated the students on the effectiveness of their presentation. Cristina Goulet and Ashley Levrier-Howell served as judges during this competition.

There are currently two ambassadors from this year that will be continuing on with this new group for next year. They are Jose Alejandro Garcia and Zabdiel Rothschild (current sophomores). The new group consists of (L-R) George Lazaro, Nina Lazaro, Joshua Betancourt, Autumn Coronado, Jonathan Marroquin, Diego Hernandez, Bryana Woodman, Estfania Cortez and Aysiah Garza.
