City Offers Summer Programs throughout July and August

The La Feria Recreation Center is offering several summer programs for the months of July and August to help La Feria kids beat those “summertime blues” including a chess camp, mariachi music lessons, art camp, science camp and a theater arts camp.
Space is still available for students interested in taking part in the mariachi music lessons. The lessons are available for students grades 1-12. The lessons are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lessons are taught by Luis Sustaita of Mariachi Mundial and began on June 21st.
The theater arts camp is open to students grades 5-8 and begins Wednesday, July 6th. The camp is held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fee for the camp is $40 per student and is being taught by Armando Lomas ([email protected]).
The summer art camp is being held from July 5-22 every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is open to students grades 4-6.
Taught by Gloria Hernandez, students will explore the elements and principls of design and the basic building blocks of art. They will also learn about several artists, styles while working on their own projects.
The fee for the art camp is $60 and space is limited. Parents interested in signing up their kids for the art camp are encouraged to sign up at La Feria City Hall.
The science camp will be held Wednesday July 6th – Friday July 8th, Monday July 11th – Wednesday July 13th and Friday July 15th. The camp is scheduled for 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. on those days and open to students grades 4-6. Students will learn how science touches their lives every day, who can do science and make connections to careers and diverse role models.
The science camp will be taught by Gianna Colson and the fee is $60. Space is limited for this camp and interested parties are asked to stop by the La Feria City Hall to register.
The La Feria Recreation Center is located at 901 Pancho Maples Drive in La Feria, Texas. Summer hours are Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
