After 42-21 Victory Over Brahmas
by Coach Jaime Acuna
The La Feria Lions started off slow against the visiting Kingsville Brahmas, but later picked up the pace to pull out an exciting 42 – 21 victory last Friday night at Lion Stadium. The win improves the lion’s overall record to 6 – 1 overall and 2 – 0 in district.
The Lion offense got things going early in the first quarter when Julian Trevino ran the ball in from 24 yards out to give the Lions a 6 – 0 lead. Kingsville would then go on to score 21 straight points to take a 21 – 6 lead midway through the second quarter.
That would be the last lead the Brahmas would have as the Lion offense put together 36 straight points to finish with 42 points and 460 total yards of offense for the night.
The Lion defense also did their part in securing the win by shutting out the Brahmas in the second half and forcing three turnovers for the game.
With two games left on their district schedule (Hidalgo/Grulla) the Lions hope to keep up their great play and try to capture another District Championship. Good luck to the boys and the coaching staff on the rest of the season.
