Lions Suffer Tough Loss To Gators
- Updated: November 18, 2016
by Coach Jaime Acuna
The La Feria Lions entered there last game of the season with a chance to win the District Championship in back to back years and a chance to clinch the number one seed in the playoffs. Before all that could happen, they had to beat a very tough and talented Grulla Gator team who was coming into the matchup red hot.
Grulla jumped out of the gate scoring two quick touchdowns to take a 13 – 0 lead. The Lions would then get on a roll and score two touchdowns of their own to take a 14 – 13 lead going into halftime.
The second half belonged to the Gators as they took advantage of some crucial Lion mistakes to win the game 40 – 21.
It was obvious that the Lions were not at their best, but they are still fortunate to still move on to the playoffs as the number two seed and faced a tough 7 – 2 Rockport Fulton team.
The game was last Friday, November 11, in Rockport Fulton at 8:00 p.m.
