The La Feria city commission was presented with a certificate of appreciation from The Center for Self-Improvement (CSI) for their participation in Steri-Clean’s Happy Hoard-idays Project.
Several volunteers associated with CSI were present at the special city commission meeting held on Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the city commission meeting room located at 115 E. Commercial Avenue in La Feria.
La Feria resident, Bill Gray, a veteran, received a complimentary cleaning and organization service provided by Steri-Clean- Dallas, a company that specializes in hoarding clean-up. Once a year, Steri-Clean conducts Happy Hoard-idays, a project that awards twelve people, nation-wide, a complimentary clean up. This year, Mr. Gray was one of those twelve. The clean-up was conducted by volunteers of CSI as well as with the help of Mayor Maldonado and members of the city commission.
“Mr. Gray was very grateful. He showed his gratitude, expressed that to a lot of us and to this day he still cannot believe that it still happened to him- one of twelve people in the nation, and he was awarded a complimentary cleaning and organization and he was from La Feria, he’s one of our own,” said a volunteer from CSI.
Furthermore, the city commission spent an hour in closed executive session where they approved the issuance of a request for qualifications (RFQ) notice for the operation and maintenance of the water system, wastewater system and lift station. While deliberating, the commission also tabled the consideration for the city to enter into an agreement for professional services with Sam Engineering and Surveying (Sames, INC.)
The next city meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 6:30 PM in the city commission meeting room located at 115 E. Commercial Avenue in La Feria. The public is encouraged to attend.
