As Christmas break approaches, excitement rolls on with the high school’s Lions varsity basketball team.
On the weekend of December 1st, the La Feria Lions participated in the Lyford Boys Basketball tournament and did an outstanding job earning the First Place trophy.
Along with First Place, Jalen Morrell receiving the All-Tourney MVP award, as well as Billy Watson and Julian Trevino receiving the All-Tourney Player awards.
“It was a great accomplishment. I was excited and super proud of not only myself, but the team as well,” senior Billy Watson said. “This is the first time we’ve won the tournament and it’s a great feeling. I’m looking forward to a very great year. I have high expectations for myself and the team. I just want to play the best I can and make my senior year count.
Our other All-Tourney player, Julian Trevino said, “I was very shocked because basketball isn’t really my thing. I’m looking forward to getting back-to-back district champs this season.”
The boys will be participating in a tournament this week on Friday through Saturday that will take place in our very own gym.
“Knowing that this is my last year will make me push myself harder,” Billy said. “ I love this team.”
Come out and show your support for our Lions Varsity Basketball team as we watch them dominate this season. Good luck boys. ROLL PRIDE!
