LFHS Powerlifting teams get ready for another season of competition
by Danielle Cantu
Powerlifting is about to begin for the La Feria Lions and Lionettes. Last year was very successful for them as they had a few people go to state.
It wasn’t the first time some of them had attended state so they had higher standards for themselves as they wanted to do better.
“Powerlifting allows me to push myself beyond my limits and helps me see what I can handle,” junior Freddy Lozano said.
“It’s a good experience, and it allows me to find my limits within myself and how I function, and it’s also fun getting to meet new people.” junior Arturo Alvarado said. “This year I look forward to trying my best to make it to State, which would be a great opportunity.”
Getting better and shooting for the stars are what the powerlifters endeavor.
“I look forward to trying to be better than I was last year and trying to beat my maxes which would be very rewarding for me,” Freddy said.
The season will start for them this January.
