The La Feria city commission hosted a special meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 27, in the City commission meeting room located at 115 E. Commercial Avenue in La Feria.
Following the invocation, pledge, determination of quorum, the commission approved the minutes of the previous meeting held on December 13. The commission then went on to approve the implementation of a body worn camera policy for the La Feria Police Department. A member of the La Feria PD went before the commission to display a replica of the camera the police officers will be wearing.
“All our officers will be equipped with this. They will be recording every contact with citizens. It’s just to keep the integrity of our department and our officers,” stated the LFPD representative.
Next, the commission went on to approve Fulcrum Consulting Services as the engineering service provider for the 2017-2018 Texas Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
“Based on the ranking and the scoring, the engineering service that is being recommended is Fulcrum Consulting Service,” said city manager, Jaime Sandoval.
Before the commission went into closed executive session, where they remained for approximately an hour, finance director, Frank Rios, went into detail as he discussed the specifics regarding the budget, debt and grants for the city as he presented the finance reports for the month of November.
After emerging from closed executive session, where there was no action on any of the items discussed, Commissioner Esmeralda Lozano made a motion authorizing the expansion of services of the city’s legal counsel, Denton, Navarro, Rocha, Bernal, Hyde, & Zech, to include services as municipal court prosecutor. Lozano’s motion passed.
The next city meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 10, in the city commission meeting room located at 115 E. Commercial Avenue in La Feria.
