The La Feria Chamber of Commerce hosted guest speaker Cameron County Judge Eddie Teviño, Jr. on Thursday, July 6, 2017.
Judge Treviño covered a variety of subjects from Operation Lonestar, NAFTA and the border wall issue. He shared some of the latest goings on in Cameron County such as changes to the county courthouse and repairs to the Dancy Building.
Judge Treviño also covered information regarding the renovations taking place on county parks including a proposed amphitheater that could accomodate up to 1,000 spectators in the Dolphin Cove area of Isla Blanca. He also encouraged listeners that his office is pushing for legislation that does not make it difficult for the Valley to have control at the local level.
“Who do you deal with on everyday issues? Is it not local offices?” asked Judge Treviño.
He also touched on the exciting economic development taking place at the ports of Brownsville and Harlingen and the expected first launch from the SpaceX launch site sometime in 2018.
Judge Treviño then entertained several questions from the attendees and provided answers on topics ranging from how to bid local projects to tourism.
