Chamber of Commerce Promotes Small Business

First EXPO a huge success

The La Feria Chamber of Commerce sponsored its first Small Business EXPO last Saturday in downtown La Feria. It was billed as an annual event, but the response and support by local businesses and city leaders has already got the ball rolling for a repeat performance in February.
Chamber Marketing Director and Public Relations Officer, Alma Martinez-Botello, said the successful small business exposition provided a showcase for our community’s Small Businesses, and show their importance to our continued local economic prosperity and growth for the community.
She defined the Chamber’s purpose: “Our purpose is to promote growth by creating and maintaining a positive atmosphere for business growth in the La Feria area by advocating and supporting all businesses in our community through member services. That is why we urge our citizens to shop La Feria First and support our own people.”
This community support effort was the brainchild of Chamber President Sunny K. Philip and the officers of the Chamber, which included: Greg Purcell, Vice-President; Rosalinda Taguilas, Treasurer; and Carina Trujillo, Secretary.

The board members include: Reva Ayala, Membership Coordinator; Noelia Flores, Ribbon Cuttings: Bobbie Sanchez, Business Development; Clim Gonzalez, Fundraising, Gloria Casas, Scholarship; and Mary Beth Wright, Membership Spotlight.
The roster of local businesses supporting the First Small Business Expo listed the following: Origami Owl, Lipsense, Lulu’s Flowers and Gifts, Acapulco Snacks, Flaca Salsa, City Boutique, Pampered Chef, Just Bling It, Paparazzi, LulaRoe, George’s Workshop, It Works!, Avon, Crochet It, Septic Services by R & R, and more.
After all the shopping, the party walked over to the Chamber’s newest member, American Legion Post 439, to enjoy the awaiting Bar-B-Que, Live music and Dance.
