Special to La Feria News
Every year for the past 7 years a small group of locals have been distributing smoked turkey dinners to 25 less fortunate families in the La Feria area.
Its all made possible by Mr Darryn and Darryk Caraveo and the Straight Across team who donated 25 cooked meals on Thanksgiving day to distribute to families in La Feria. Items distributed were a smoked turkey, sweet potatoes, potatoes, ears of corn, pecan pie, cool whip and 1 liter of coke.
These gentlemen collect 350-400 turkeys every year and include La Feria in their event.
Organizers would like to thank those who have taken their time out of their Thanksgiving day to help, including Mr. Cliff Thomas from UPS who delivers the turkeys every year from San Juan.
A special thanks to Ramiro Aleman president of The Villista Motorcycle club who helped this year. “We started 7 years ago and every year we have more volunteers. Thank you to my family for helping distribute the turkey meals,” said Anna Aleman.
