January is school board appreciation month and on Monday, January 8, at a regularly scheduled school board meeting, Superintendent Cathy Lee Hernandez, presented school board members with certificates of appreciation highlighting their contribution and dedication to La Feria ISD.
“We are very fortunate to have wonderful board members who truly do care about our students and we do appreciate them,” said Hernandez.
Representatives from the student body of various La Feria campuses were present at the meeting to show their appreciation for the LFISD school board members.
Following the presentation of the certificates, assistant superintendent, Cynthia Torres, presented to the public the Texas Academic Evaluation Report for school year 2016-2017. By state law the school district must release a report to inform the public of the districts academic standing.
School board president, Juan Briones then went on to announce the number of hours of required training that each board member completed in order to be eligible to serve on the LFISD school board.
Before adjourning, the board approved the monthly tax report as well as the quarterly investment report and the superintendent’s goals for 2017-2018.
The next school board meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 22, at the Central Administration Office located at 505 N. Villarreal Street in La Feria.
