Grace Davison, a once resident of Palmera Heights, made her traditional trip from Missouri to La Feria to celebrate her 102nd birthday. Davison enjoyed an afternoon surrounded by her friends and family at her party hosted at Ol D’s Soda Shop in Harlingen on Saturday, February 3.
Arnold Lance, current La Feria resident and Davison’s youngest son, says that despite his mother’s age, she remains active and enjoys sewing.
“About eight years ago she started making double fleece blankets- she makes at least one every day. My mother is very active, up until this year she never used a walker; last winter she never used it- she would come down here and dance and everything,” said Lance.
Davison, mother of 4 and the last remaining of 12 siblings, smiled big for pictures and walked about the room as her guests wished her well. She does not plan on slowing down any time soon and looks forward to many more celebrations.
