It’s Fiesta Time Again in La Feria!

The city of La Feria is preparing for its annual celebration- Fiesta de La Feria! Fiesta de La Feria originally began as a dinner and concert put on by the city to show their appreciation for Winter Texans choosing La Feria as their winter home. 25 years later, the event has grown into a full blown street festival with family fun activities such as a car show, various contests and much more.
According to Tabitha M. Outlaw, administrative assistant and special events coordinator for the city, the festival has really grown. Fiesta started out as show of appreciation and has grown into an event that gathers the community of La Feria to celebrate the culture of the valley.
Fiesta attendees can look forward to musical performances by local Valley groups such as Los Angeles del Sur, Regreso, Roy Solis Band, Inevitable and Ralph and The Cruisers. Among other forms of entertainment, the public can expect a dance contest, the traditional grito contest, the children’s coloring contest, a beer garden, food, vendors and so much more.
The 25th annual Fiesta de La Feria will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 11AM to 11 PM. In commemoration of the 25th Fiesta de La Feria, commemorative cups and t-shirts will be sold at the festival. According to Outlaw, the city anticipates a large crowd and looks forward to the community gathering for a good time and celebrating tradition, “Fiesta is tradition here. Basically it’s a fun time for kids, parents, grandparents and their whole family to come together.”
