The La Feria ISD held a regularly scheduled school board meeting on Monday, Feb. 12, at the Lee Facility located at 400 S. West St. in La Feria.
The room was packed with parents and teachers as students were acknowledged for their accomplishments in various activities.
School board members and superintendent, Cathy Lee Hernandez, recognized the accomplishments of students in academics, UIL events and extra-curricular activities.
Students from elementary to high school were presented and recognized for participating and excelling in activities such as chess, band, spelling bees, track, and so much more.
Superintendent Hernandez announced at this meeting her plan to have principals of every school meet at the end of every month to report on the academic growth of students.
Hernandez, who referred to the students as the pride of La Feria, also spoke on the importance of events like this because it highlights and motivates students to surpass expectations.
