La Feria High School Varsity Softball team participated in the Donna ISD Varsity Softball Tournament this past weekend, February 15-17. The Lionettes played a total of 6 games taking them to the Championship game on Saturday vs Edcouch Elsa.
Thursday the Lionettes defeated Santa Rosa HS 13-0, Brownsville Pace 4-0. Friday the Lionettes defeated Edinburg Economedes 7-1.
The 3 wins placed La Feria in the Championship Bracket to play Saturday Morning at 10:30 vs their district rival Port Isabel. The Lionettes went on to beat the Lady Tarpons 3-2, Hidalgo 6-1 and a tough loss to Edcouch Elsa in the Championship game with the score of 1-4 finishing 2nd place overall.
Lionettes are currently 6-1 in non-district. They will be traveling to La Joya this weekend for Tournament #2 of the season where they will face Donna North at 9am, La Joya Palmview at 12:30 and Los Fresnos at 4:00pm on Friday, February 23. The Lionettes will host Zapata to open the District season on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
