La Feria Assembly Hall to Host 10 Summer Conventions
- Updated: May 25, 2018
Thousands of delegates from many parts of South Texas will be coming to La Feria this summer to enjoy 10 three-day Bible-based conventions. The 2018 series begins in May and ends in July.
It will serve the needs of approximately 135 congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Rio Grande Valley, encompassing Brownsville to Roma.
Convention officials said members of their faith, as well as non-Witnesses, will benefit from the positive message and practical suggestions that will be highlighted at the “Be Courageous”! Regional Conventions. The family-oriented conventions are three days of Bible instructions beginning Friday and ending Sunday.
The program begins with a musical-video presentation each day at 9:20 a.m. and ends each day at 4:50 p.m. with Sunday ending at 3:50 p.m.
A highlight of each Saturday’s program will be the public ordination ceremony for new ministers.
The speaker for the occasion will commend the candidates for dedicating their lives to the almighty God and entering the public ministry.
The impressive ceremony includes baptism in the baptismal font in the Assembly Hall, following the example of Jesus Christ. In order to serve the bilingual population of South Texas, there will be eight conventions entirely in Spanish and two will be presented in English at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1701 South Parker Road in La Feria.
The following is a list of the scheduled conventions along with the language in which they will be presented: May 18-20 (Spanish); May 25-27 (Spanish); June 01-03 (Spanish); June 08-10 (Spanish); June 15-17 (Spanish); June 22-24 (Spanish); June 29-July 01 (Spanish); July 06-08 (Spanish); July 13-15 (English); and July 20-22 (English).
Everyone may attend. Public won’t be charged admission and no collection will be taken. To see the program schedule visit the official Witnesses’ website at www.jw.org.
