La Feria to Celebrate Independence Day This Saturday
by Tony Vindell/LFN
Time to put on your patriotic attire, to grab an ice chest and a blanket or lawn chairs and head out to the city’s Veterans Memorial/Sports Parks Complex to celebrate Independence Day this Saturday.
Although July 4th is Wednesday, some municipalities like La Feria and Los Fresnos decided to hold their respective events this weekend to allow more people to attend as the big day falls in the middle of the following work week.
A ceremony to recognize all veterans will also be part of La Feria’s festivities that will go on from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Any veteran is welcome to come over and celebrate any year of the country’s Independence Day.
Any name submitted by those who have served or are serving in the armed forces will be read during the ceremony.
The festivities will include food vendors, music and a firework display starting at 9:30 p.m.
Although the council approved the consumption of alcoholic beverages during its last meeting, there will be no such items for sale, meaning everyone will have to bring their own spirits.
The 12th annual Independence Day Celebration will be held at the city’s Veterans Memorial/Sports Complex at 904 Pancho Maples Dr.
